Hello Everyone!! I hope you are all having a great week.
For this week’s Thursday Tech review. I am proud to say that I will be reviewing a crowd sourced funded gadget from a company called, Padmate with their PAMU true wireless ear buds. Padmate is an 8-year-old company with more than 70 designers and engineers specializing in Bluetooth, and smart devices. They were well received at the CES in Las Vegas in January of 2018 and have been a participant at the show for the last 7 years.
Look and Build
The PaMu ear buds come in a nice package containing the manual, the charging case containing the ear buds, a USB cable and a couple of spare buds of different sizes. The round charging carrying case comes in black or white. I purchased the black one. This device is quite unique in it’s design and function. At the top of the case is a nice muted checkered surface in various shades of black. The front of the case are 4 LED light indicators that light when the case is charging to show its progress. At the back of the case is button that opens the case. On the right-hand side of the case is the USB port to charge the case and in turn, charges the ear buds. Instead of the cover opening like a clam shell, The PaMu cover pop’s up and slides sideways to reveal the pair of ear buds inside.
As for the ear buds themselves, they are snuggly stored in their compartments inside the case. Each slot for each ear bud, has a magnetic compartment which snaps them into place, so they will meet the charging contacts the right way each time. The looks of the PaMu is plain. Other than the matching pattern on the side of the ear buds with the charging case cover, there is not much to it. However, having said that, the simple look of the ear buds is its elegance and ingenuity. There are no buttons to push. However, that doesn’t mean you cannot control your music from the ear bud. You simply tap the sides to play your music, tap it again once to stop. To advance the track forward once, you simply tap either side of the buds twice. If you have an incoming call, tap either of the ear buds once on the side and to reject a call, tap either one of the ear buds twice.
Set Up: Setting up the PaMu is so painless. Trying to pair with my phone or tablet is the part that I really hate when I get a new pair of true wireless ear buds. However with the PaMu, after initially charging the case, I simply take the ear buds out and they will automatically turn on and pair with each other. I then went to my tablet and scanned for a device called “PaMu”. I selected “Pair” and I was ready to enjoy my music. It is so easy.
Day to Day Use: I have been using the PaMu earbuds about a week now, and I must say that the sound is amazing. The base is really low and highs are crisp and clean. Overall, the sound is probably the best that I have heard on any true wireless ear buds. Regarding comfort, once I determined which of the buds was the right size for me, it was quite comfortable. I love wearing it in bed as I read my tablet before retiring for the night. Padmate has designed these ear buds to never fall out of your ear, and I think they have done that. The only time it fell out was when I fell asleep with them on. The play time of the PaMu earbuds is about 3.5 hours and the charging case will charge the buds 3 times. Great to have during long haul flights. If you have your portable charger with you. You can be listening to this device for days without a plug nearby. I tried the ear bud as a blue tooth device to make a phone call and it performed well. I called my brother and asked him to tell me how I sounded from his end and at first, it sounded like there was an echo. We suspected that we just might have a bad connection. So, we tried it again, and the voice quality was pretty decent when we tried again. With the touch technology, I had to be careful when I try to adjust the ear bud in my ear, because it was easy enough to inadvertently pause the music. However, once I got use to it, I was happy with my purchase. With great sound, and long-playing time, matched with its comfortable design, the PaMu earbuds would be a great purchase even at it’s regular price of $109 US dollars. There is also one more thing about the PaMu ear buds that I haven’t mentioned. You can wear it in the shower or walk in the rain with it and you won’t damage it. It is waterproof! However, I wouldn’t wear it while swimming. It is not fully water proof.
Pros:
Easy Set up
Great Sound
Easy operation
Waterproof
Decent Voice Call Quality
Long Playing, Stand By Time
Easy to Carry Around in the Case
Passive Noise Cancelling System to Drown out Outside Noise
Cons: I really don’t have much to put down as a negative on this device, but if I really have to find one, the one comment I would have, would be that I would like it to be a little smaller. However, I am sure that in time, I have no doubt that it will be.
